Last Thursday I posted about the new girl at work being out sick for the entire week and how I was looking forward to her bring back because the other girl that is on my shift is on vacation. Well, she is out sick. This week has been long and the entire shift is non-stop work. As many of you know, I have some slow times during my day where I am able to sit back, relax and make a posting to the blog, or talk to some of you on AIM. Well, the past few days its been crazy.
Reasons I want to quit:
1) Lack of Help - Last week when "New Girl" called out, it was fine, there was another girl there to help me out and the show ran fine. I work on two shows a day. There is the main morning show and a show that goes on the air at 4:30am EST. The 4:30 show duties can be done by two people, but it is hecktic. On Friday, "New Girl" was still out sick and the Other Girl was on Vacation leaving me the only person trained to do the job of three people at once. Unfair right? I was given a girl who has no training on my show to "help out" and all she did was sit at her desk and say "if you need help, ask me, I'm watching Oprah"
2) On Friday of last week my HR boss, who is in charge of the schedule, knew that New Girl was going to be out of work the next week. It was not until Tuesday of this week that she try to correct the schedule and get regular coverage on our shift.
3) I have been passed over a bunch of times the past few months for positions that are a step above where I am right now. The last four were all filled by young women with blonde hair and above average breast size who, when our shifts overlap, constantly ask me how to do their job. It's frustrating when you have producers you work with tell you that you are smart on a daily basis and then when you try to move up and out of the "overnight" shift you get passed over for someone who works dayside.
Reasons why I like my job:
1) I get paid extremely well
2) I have access to some of the greatest anchors in television history. One of which just gave me an AMAZING recommendation at another network
3) I have been able to learn a lot of new skills that will possibly get me hired at another network.
I know I sound bitter, I am just frustrated. I requested a meeting with my HR Manager to talk about my frustrations and have a plan for the meeting. After almost 2 years here at the network as a PA, I want to move on and ahead. I was talking with a Senior Producer today and his advice is to lay out what I have done, the stories I have worked on, and the praise I have got from other producers during the meeting and ask how I can move forward and up.
My buddy at a RIVAL network has my resume and word is, there may be an opening for me there. He's a really good guy, known him since my internship, plus he is really cute. Who knows, all I know is by weeks end I will have worked about 80 hours this week.
Any job leads and porn are welcomed to be emailed everyone!

Weekend
How was everyone’s weekend? Mine started off great! First I thought it wasn’t going to turn out as great as I thought. I could barely get an hour nap in all day after working 15 hours. I have no clue why, but I couldn’t sleep at all.
Tony showed up at my apartment ready to go out and kick some ass at some bars in NYC. But first, I had some pledges stop by my apartment. Pledges from my chapter stopped by to say hi and get their “mission” for the night. They seem like really cool guys. I was able to meet my Little x4 (Great Great Grand little) For those who don’t know about Fraternity systems, every pledge is given a Big brother to help them out during the “New Member Education” period. My big brother is a guy by the name of Tom. Right now he is out in Pittsburgh finishing up law school.
I am part of a “Tree” of re-founders of my chapter. So my big brother can be traced all the way back up to this guy Dave. It’s pretty cool.
Anyway, they left, were on their way and Tony and I decided to pregame and head to Therapy. We got there, snagged a table and talked for a little bit, took in the scenery, and Tony’s friends showed up a little later. One of his friends I have been talking with online. His name is Dimitri.
He’s a cool guy, we talked a little bit at Therapy and then we all headed Vlada which is like a block away. There he got me a drink and the group of us went to a table near the back of the second floor and just chilled out. Tony knew the bartender there and was going back and forth with him. Dimitri and I were talking and had a really cool moment, we were talking and just smiling a lot. It could have been the alcohol but when I looked at him I was really into his smile.
Dimitri had to take off for work the next day so we said our goodbyes and Tony and I were left to drink shots of jager and lots of other drinks.
The rest of the night got a little blurry, I do know that I was talking to a really cute guy from Brazil who I made out with by the bathroom, then told me he had a boyfriend.
Then I met this guy from London. Really cute and had a killer accent.

"You're a smart guy..."
The title of the post is how my interview ended yesterday. Over the course of the "interview" it felt more like a conversation than an interview. We talked about what I did at work, my typical work day, what I did outside of work ( I left out the whole Jager Bombs and make out with guys at bars part... even though that hasn't happened in a LONG time)
Overall, I feel really good about the interview. This weekend should be a blast.'
I don't wanna talk about my day at work... 10pm- 11:30am... I am getting some sleep now, and will get up and party it up with Tony here in NYC. Maybe making stops at Therapy and Mr. Black...

Really Annoying
Work has been annoying this past week. It's Thursday... I have a phone interview with another network today. The position would be a major upgrade for me in pay and would be working day time hours. I think that by telling my parents and writing about it on the blog I may have jinxed myself, much like the California job, which I did NOT get.
Why can't a possible employer shoot an e-mail over saying that they have found somebody else? What surprises me is that the last 10 positions I applied for internally here at the network I am currently at, I have only got 2 e-mails to tell me that I did not get the job.
"we’ve finally come to a decision on our job opening, and decided to go with someone who has spent some time with us in the past. It was a difficult decision, as there were a number of really good candidates, you included. I know that you are highly regarded around here (including by me) and have a great future ahead of you. Let me know if you have any questions, or if I can help in any way. I’d be happy to serve as a reference."
That was the last job I applied for, and the guy that sent it to me is a VERY nice guy and is known for being a nice guy. If I am highly regarded by him and others here, why can't I seem to find a position here that fits me as an upgrade?
I had an e-mail conversation with a writer today at work as he saw me running around getting everything done for the show...
"Are there any AP jobs opening up anytime soon? That's essentially what you're doing now. You should definitely apply for the job. Don't worry about forcing (boss) to make a tough decision. You have to do what's best for you… before you really lose it."
I had a LONG conversation with my Executive producer yesterday about what is going on with me and she is VERY understanding. We have a great relationship as co-workers but also looks out for me as a mother figure. She has also been helping me try to find jobs and has written several letters of recommendation for me.
What is making this week even crazier is that the new girl that I have been training called out this entire week because she is "sick". Wether it's true or not I don't know, but she has been complaining that she doesn't like the hours and wants off the overnight. Take a ticket and wait in line. I have been on these hours almost 2 years now. I had a brief 3 month stint filling in on afternoon hours and then came back here about a year ago.
Anyway, she is out sick and the other girl on my shift starts vacation tomorrow. My HR boss has NOT given me a replacemnet to help me out on my shift. So essentialy, I will be working from 10pm to 1pm Thursday night into Friday Afternoon. Yes, you read correctly. I will be doing the jobs of 3 people by myself. I plan on getting VERY drunk after the shift. My EP is yelling at HR for leaving me alone on the shift and has been requesting for someone to come and help, but as of now, it's just me.
In the words of Aaron Karo.... Fuck me!

Reality Television
I saw this posted in a television e-mail I get about television today……
TV Guide Channel is prepping for auditions for a new reality series from Magical Elves called America's Next Producer, reports Daily Variety. The network has ordered up 10 episodes and auditions are scheduled to begin later on this month in Chicago, as well as next month in LA and NY. Built in format similar to Top Chef and Project Runway, both also produced by Magical Elves, the show will be a series of competitions, judged by industry people. No host or judges names have been announced as yet. The prize however has been determined - $100k in cash, an office in Hollywood, and a first-look deal with TV Guide Channel.
I am auditioning and will WIN this competition!!!

The Weekend
I had a pretty good weekend. It was nice to get out of New York and into the mountains of the Poconos in Pennsylvania. I went out to Long Island to meet up with my friend Mike. We stopped and picked up booze, got some food to bring up to the house and made our way up. It only took us 3 hours.
I had never been inside a Super Wawa before. We stopped at one by the house and they had a full working sandwich shop inside. There were some hot snowboarders inside the shop that Mike and I got to check out.
Mike and I had hooked up before and kind of dated with out the title while I was at my first school in Pennsylvania. The first night was pretty cool. I was catching up with a lot of guys that I haven’t seen in a long time.
Friday night, with no sleep, I sat out on the back deck next to a heater and looked up at the stars and they were so bright. Not anything REALLY exciting to talk about. I had a good time, drank a lot of beer and did a lot of jager bombs.
Hope you had a great weekend!

Out of Town
I will be out of town the next few days and probaly won't have access to e-mail in the Pocono Mountains. I am taking a break from New York City for a little bit. Over the next few weekends I am traveling to different places to get my mind off of work.
I know I neglected the blog the last few days. I have been in this zone of working and sleeping with the gym thrown in there every once and a while.
I had a really shitty day yesterday, got into the first "roomie fight", nothing big, just cleaning up the place and then he woke me up because he was locked out. The usual stuff.
I got an e-mail and phone call from another network about a job with them. They got my resume passed on to them and are interested. I am not getting my hopes up, I did last time and I am pissed off I did. Cross your fingers everyone!
I am bringing my laptop with me, in case I can find a wi-fi connection. But I bet I won't.
Have a good weekend everyone. I hope I have a good one!

Pete Wentz

Blender magazine
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR TASTE IN SEX?
I tend to be a bit prudish. I'm a make-out king--I'll kiss anybody--but as far as going further than that, I wanna keep my number down. I don't wanna tell my future wife, "Yeah, I've been with, like, 50 people." But when I'm with somebody, the caveman in me wants it to be completely deviant. Like, "Oh this isn't supposed to go in there? Then that's where it has to go."
SO, MAKE-OUT KING, YOU'VE KISSED BOYS?
I have. Anybody above the waist is fair game.
I saw this posted on Perez Hilton and had to post it here. One day, I want it to be acceptable for two guys, at a bar, to make out and get free drinks just like girls do. I mean seriously, Pete Wentz is a cute guy, he should be able to make out with anyone. Now if only Brady Quinn and Colt Brennan would make out at the NFL Draft.
Speaking of the NFL Draft, I think I may head out to Giants Stadium again this year for the draft.

Valentines Day

When I wake up to go to work it will be Valentines Day. What a sucky day to be single. Anyway, I thought this would be a good time to ask you guys, WHO ARE YOU?
Haha. I have had some awesome guys IM me who read the blog, liked it and said hello. Some of you have turned into people I say hello to daily (like Tim)...Tim is a guy that has listened to me bitch a lot and I am forever greatful for that.
Back to YOU guys. I want to know who you guys are..... Shoot me an E-mail or an IM and let me know who you are, what you think about the blog, anything you want to ask, go right ahead. My contact info is below!

All I can think about...

Is how I need to get myself ready for beach season. I have been looking a lot of pictures of hot guys and realize that I have to whip my ass into shape for the summer. Figure June will be the start of heading to the beach, my goal is to lose the winter beer belly I have and tone up for the summer.
Anyone with suggestions should send them my way. I have been working my ass off the past few days (yes, even the weekend) and want everyone to know that I am back posting at the normal pace.

discover more music
So I have been talking with Tim about music lately. He has been sending me bands that he likes, that he thinks I would also like. A year ago I found through a friend Pandora.Pandora is a music discovery service designed to help you enjoy music you already know, and to help you discover new music you'll love. It's powered by the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken, the Music Genome Project: a crazy project started back in early 2000 to capture the complex musical DNA of songs using a large team of highly-trained musicians. Just tell us one of your favorite songs or artists and we'll launch a streaming station to explore that part of the musical universe.
I really like it because I like music but just don’t have the time to go and find music that I like or similar types of bands. Yea, I am somewhat lazy but Pandora is something that I am really liking right now. Imagine having an iTunes with unlimited music playing by bands you like and bands that sound like bands that you also like. I have been listening to The Fray How to Save a Life album on repeat the past few days and I went to Pandora and get a playlist of music. It selects the songs and so far I have enjoyed the bands they have selected. Anyway, I would say give it a try. I am liking the music that I am listening to right now, to help me focus on writing and get rid of my writers block.
Dating…
Dating as a gay guy in New York is hard. I know that I need to be more proactive and go out to gay bars and meet guys because the internet just doesn’t work. Anyway, as many of you know, I have been playing a texting game with this guy Ryan. I met Ryan out at a bar / lounge in New York a few weeks ago.
We called each other and left voicemails and then the texting game started. Granted, I would call him and leave a voicemail and he would text me back. Now, when a guy texts you back and keeps asking what’s up and wants to hang out I would think that he is interested. So, the last few days we have been texting back and forth and I asked him if he wanted to grab coffee or a drink sometime this week. He got back to me saying he is busy with a birthday party, class and doesn’t know if he is around this weekend.
I dunno, I just get so many mixed messages from this guy. He wants to hang out, then he’s busy which sounds like he is not wanting to hang out, then I get more texts. I dunno. I just need to get out there again. At least I am getting texts from this guy.

John Amaechi
From Outsports:
John Amaechi, a former player with the Utah Jazz and Orlando Magic, has become the first NBA player to come out as gay.
Amaechi will announce publicly for the first time that he is gay on an episode of ESPN's "Outside The Lines" to air Feb. 11 at 9:30amET, Outsports has learned. His book, "Man In The Middle," published by ESPN Books, in which he chronicles his NBA career and directly addresses the travails of being a closeted professional athlete, will be released Feb. 14.
Amaechi's sexuality has been rumored for years. In an April 2001 column for Outsports, NBA columnist Randy Boyd named Amaechi, then playing with the Orlando Magic, as No. 16 among those in the NBA most likely to be gay.
So I guess I am a little behind on this story. I had seen this on Outsports a few days ago and wanted to post about it, but never got around to it. I really think what John did was great. This is an inspiration to many young athletes who are playing at the high school and college level. I remember talking to a D-1 college basketball player a few years ago while I was still in college. I was in a chatroom and we started talking. We got a lot great online and quickly became IM friends. After talking for a week about sports, guys and experiences he told me that he was a basketball player at a school near me. I thought it was pretty cool that he would talk to me about that.
We kept chatting and he ended up sending me a picture of himself. A really good looking guy. I was 21 at the time, he was just 18. Later on that week, I was sitting with my roommates watching a basketball game on ESPN. It was close to the end of the half and sure enough who do I see come on to the court… the guy I had been talking to. I kept my mouth shut. Did not say a word.
Later on that night he signed on and said hi. I said, “how could you miss an easy free throw like that” joking around. He flipped out. He realized that I had recognized him and he signed off. Looking back on it, I shouldn’t have been so playful knowing that he was VERY closeted. I wrote an email to him that night. Saying that I did not mean to offend him, but wanted to let him know that I would never OUT him to anyone and that I was sorry for playing around like that.
2 weeks later he IMs me and tells me it’s cool. That he freaked out and that he is sorry. He is now a senior and I see him playing on TV regularly. He had a girlfriend up until a few months ago. They broke up. He IMed me a few weeks ago to catch up and see what I was up to. I told him about the blog, told him about work and all that stuff. He’s reading this entry right now thinking to himself, “That fucker, posted about me”
Back to John Amaechi… I pre-ordered his book. I’m excited to read it. I really enjoy the site Outsports. It is always a good read.

USA TODAY

Something I can beat Towleroad to… USA Today has a front page story today about gay Teens and how they are coming out earlier and earlier.
Youths also swim in a cultural sea that's far more pro-gay than ever, says Ritch Savin-Williams, a psychologist at Cornell University and author of The New Gay Teenager. From MTV's The Real World to Will & Grace and Ellen DeGeneres hosting the Oscars, "kids can see gays in a positive light," he says.
It’s a good article and brings to light a lot of what is happening. Its plastered on the front page so I guess we will see how sales of USA Today are in conservative areas.

Jeff Zucker

For those of you who don’t know who he is, he is now the President and CEO of NBC Universal. Zucker has a job that I would love to ascend to.
In 1989, he was a field producer for The Today Show, and at 26 he became its executive producer in 1992.He introduced outdoor rock concerts on the show, and incorporated a mass live audience, most prominently through a window on the city. Under his leadership, Today was the nation’s most-watched morning news program, with viewership during the 2000-01 season reaching the highest point in the show’s history. (from wikipedia)
Zucker has basically failed his way up the chain of command at NBC. True, he created the mega show that is The Today Show but, when he took over NBC Entertainment he lost Friends and has not really found a BIG hit for the network. The only scripted show in the Top 20 is Heros which is #13 with 13.6 million viewers. There are other shows on NBC that I watch and like (on DVR) Studio 60, 30 Rock, The Office, and that’s about it.
Zucker is someone that made the transition working in News to working on the entertainment side of television. It’s a transition that I am currently trying to make. A year and a half into my career in television, I know where I want to go. The challenge is getting the opportunity to set myself up to go there. Television is a hard business to work in. I love it. But when you are “young” you have to take your lumps while you work your way up
In 1989, he was a field producer for The Today Show, and at 26 he became its executive producer in 1992.He introduced outdoor rock concerts on the show, and incorporated a mass live audience, most prominently through a window on the city.
Random Post
Looking back at the last post I realized that I had SUCH a great time this past weekend. I have fully recovered, got sleep and am ready to take on the rest of the week. I am back on my favorite shift, 3am to Noon. I like it so much because I end up with a LOT of downtime. I am also able to sleep during the afternoon, wake up around 8ish and meet up with some friends that are out at night. Plus, I am going to go out a little bit before work and try to meet some people that are out. I say that now, but who knows what will happen.
I guess a few updates for those who care:
That dude Ryan texted me back last night. I got pretty excited. Even though it was just to tell me he has been crazy busy with work and was wondering what’s up with me. Who the hell knows what’s up with that.
I have had writers block for a while. Tony finished a script and sent it to me a few weeks ago and I loved it. Don’t want anyone to steal his idea. I just need some inspiration.
With all the fun I had this weekend, and all the numbers I got, I didn’t get any birthday ass. I am a little upset about it, but over it now.
I need to hit the gym a lot more this week. Cardio = my best friend.
Hope you all have a good day!

Birthday Weekend
***NOTE: This entry was written on the train ride back from New Haven to New York. Metro-North trains are the WORST and I am incredibly hung over. I don't plan on re-reading this post before I post it so if it sounds like a bunch of drunken words thrown together, thats what it is.... enjoy all!***
This weekend was ridiculous. Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday! Especially Tony who called and drunk texted me on Friday night/Saturday morning after midnight to be the FIRST phone call of many. As I had mentioned on the blog before, I headed to Connecticut to visit a bunch of friends that were heading up to Alumni Weekend at my college in Connecticut. My school doesn't have a football team so it's hard to get alumni back and fired up for an athletic event.
After work, which was ridiculous because I am training a new girl (more on that later) I got in to work at 10:00pm Thursday evening, and left work at 10:03am... 12 hours of non-stop working. Little breaks here at there of about 5-10 minutes of slow time but mostly I was running around doing everything. I got on a train at 12:07 and headed to New Haven. I slept almost the entire train ride to wake up and lock eyes with a guy wearing a Yale Rugby jacket. Beautiful blue eyes, blonde hair, strong facial features that a Rugby player is expected to have. The defined face and jaw made him a hottie on the train. We locked eyes and I was still a little groggy. With about 5 minutes left on the train, I eye fucked the SHIT out of him. I got a small smile from him while we were waiting for the train to stop and the doors to open. He held the doorway to the stairwell open for me because i had my bags in my hand. I said thank you. Made some small talk about how I was in town for the Yale/Quinnipiac hockey game and to see some friends from college.
When we got to the lobby of Union station in New Haven, he was greeted by a very cute brunette. She kissed him on the lips. As I walked past, he stopped, extended his hand out and said, "maybe I will see you at the game." with a slight smile. It definitely gave me a boost in my confidence for the weekend.
The train ride to New Haven is about an hour and twenty minutes, so I would say I got maybe an hour of sleep on the train.
My cousin picks me up outside Union Station and we head to a Best Buy so I can pick up my birthday present to myself. I needed a new digital camera after my last one broke at the Giants/Eagles game. I have been saving some money, and it was my birthday and decided it was the best for me to buy myself something fun that I know I will use this weekend and for the next few years. We get there and the camera I was eyeing was on sale for $249. I think to myself WONDERFUL! (my last camera I tried to get fixed and they estimated that it would be about $200 to fix because it was out of warranty, so why not buy a new one)
I talk to the awkward sales assistant and finalize the deal. We go to ring up the camera and he says, you are in luck, the camera was marked down to $205 plus you get a free memory stick and a $20 gift card. This is too good to be true. My cousin says it is a sign of how much fun the weekend is going to be.
After my new purchase, I open it up in the car we kindly call call OJ. It's a 1995 White Ford Explorer that kind of resembles OJ's Bronco he drove on his famous "I'm not guilty tour" We hit up a bar right off campus that was the local hang out for me and my fraternity brothers. I walk in and instantly I see about 20 people I know. My cousin thinks I am a celebrity, says that outloud to have my old roommate yell, "HE IS A CELEBRITY" as he jumps on top of me. My cousin stayed for one beer and left to go study for his Series 7 exam that he has in March.
From there beers were consumed, stories were told, hugs were hugged out and food was all around. 6:00 rolls around and the entire bar is filled with some of my best friends in the entire world and I loved every minute of it. I left the bar at around 6:30 to head to the Yale/QU hockey game at the new arena they just opened on campus. The place was nuts. about a thousand undergrads in yellow rally tshirts cheering on the mens hockey team against Yale. QU won 6-4 and I had an awesome time seeing a bunch of people in the alumni section.
The rest of the night was a little bit of a blur. I stopped by an engagement party for this girl I was friends with during school then headed to the bar the hockey team was celebrating at. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a bunch of hockey alumni. Dan was one of them.
3:30am Saturday morning I realized that I had been up since Thursday night and CRASHED in my buddy Mike's bed. He was sleeping at his girlfriends place so I was alone.
I woke up Saturday morning around 11ish. Took a shower and my sister picked me up to head to the ceremony for my grandfather. As some of you know, my grandfather passed away back in October and I was really close with him. He was being honored at the high school where he volunteered at for over 30 years. The ceremony was very nice and the fact that it was my birthday made it pretty special.
After the game, my cousin drove me back up to Hamden on his way to Boston to break up with his girlfriend. I headed to main campus and went to a reception for the 40th anniversary of the founding of my fraternity on my campus. There were graduates there from 1973, 1987 and some of the recent alumni from when I had just been initiated. Catching up with a lot of them was great. What was funny is some of the younger guys had seen my birthday listed on facebook, came up and wished me a happy birthday and the older alumni gave me birthday punches.
From there it's a blur. It was open bar at the reception, I drank more beers, ate food, headed back to the apartment iw as staying at showered, drank some jager and headed to new Haven to celebrate my birthday.
This is very blurry. I drank a lot. People bought me shots and beers all over the place. My old roommate Cameron and I were on our way to the bathroom and we bump into this girl we went to college with. Her name is Paula and she was on the Key West season of the Real World. I had known her while I was in school so it was always good seeing her.
I know we ended up at a diner, walked to a random apartment and passed out. I woke up the next morning and headed back to NYC.
I know, kinda long, un-eventful but I had a really good time. This weekend I am partying with some friends in the city. Can't wait.

Yalies and Naked Calendars
Yale seems to have a knack for getting it’s undergrads to pose naked for various publications on campus. Yale’s RUMPUS magazine has it’s Yale’s 50 Most beautiful people in the works. Like past issues, there will sure to be many a hot athlete naked with a book or tie blocking their groin area. Mostly the guys that pose without a shirt are allowed to do so because they have pec’s and abs to show off to other Yalies with hopes of getting more ass than they usually do. Anyway, why all this talk of that Ivy League school in Connecticut, because this girl who I work with went to Harvard and LOVES to talk about the Ivy’s Yale/Harvard have a rivalry that goes back to the 1800’s. Who has the better campus, who has the bigger trust fund, who has the most controlling secret societies and of course who has the hottest men.Well, IvyGate has a posting of a calendar of some Yalie’s that “bared” all for the calendar. I posted a few of the pictures from the site below the post. I guess I am getting geared up for heading back to New Haven for the weekend where there are always hot Yalies running around being “wicked smart” and stuff. If any of you have hot guys you want to share from your school feel free to send me pictures from Facebook and or pictures from Calendars that are posted at your school.
