JP gets asked on a date (?)

I sort of got asked on a date. Although I need some advice on what to think of it and how to proceed.

First... the guy. His name is Rick. I met him at the Winter Ball a few weekends ago and he is one of the guys who said he was bisexual. He added me on facebook and sent me a message saying it was great to meet this weekend.

Over the course of our messages he mentions that he had applied to a job at where I work, but had not heard back yet. He asked for my cell phone number and proceeded to text back and forth about what we were doing, weekend plans and tv shows. He is a big fan of LOST and Jericho... two of my favorites. We then started talking about sports teams and which ones we like.

I am going to pause here and say that at this point I was really into him.

During our texting about going to the gym he asks me to a Boston Celtics game in March. He has floor seats for the game and wants me to come along. I am thinking that this is going to be great.

Then that feeling crept into my gut. I felt like he was talking to me about getting a job and not about getting to know me. I'm being cautious.

I think that this "date" of sorts is going to be more of a getting to know you guys night in Boston. I don't know if we are staying over in Boston or any other details.

Like I said before I don't really know what kind of weekend this is going to be. I just don't know what to expect. It's confusing.

Photobucket

Now, like I had said in a previous post, I added my profile to Connexion.org and have yet to have someone send me a message to say hi or try to connect. I will say this, there are not many profiles set up here in Connecticut.

I was on Towleroad and saw the ad posted above for mypartner.com. I WANT A TAILGATE PARTNER! I wouldn't mind one of those guys to go to a game with and possibly have some nasty bedroom fun with them.

This past weekend was alumni weekend down at my college. It's not bad living closer to where I went to school because a bunch of guys I know live close by still and I get to see them. I realized that I want to move down closer to the people I already know in the New Haven area and away from Hartford. I really think where I am living now is contributing to my funk that I feel I am in.

I have a great job, I party with friends and have a good time with the people I know. That lonely feeling has really been kicking my ass lately. Fuck!

Work Crush E-mails

Knocking out a quick entry before I head to the gym and work. Last night at work we got a bunch of prank calls from some kids in Minnesota who had a snow day today and were bored and drunk in their parents basement. I don't know why the operator kept sending them to us but whatever.

I got up to head to the water cooler to fill my water bottle up and Work Crush was standing by the printer. He looked good today. Most days it's nothing more than a "hi, how are you?" and then I just stare at his ass and chest the rest of the time he is around.

I walk by and he says "Hi JP" first! WOW. So calm, cool and collected I respond with "Want to talk to a prank caller?" That starts off a conversation about the prank callers, baseball, a mention of his ex-girlfriend and working in college radio.

He was a baseball player and majored in French. Hmmmmm... anyway, he had to start working and did his thing as I went back to my desk and worked.

I had a minor freakout when I got an e-mail from the NFL with the title "Giants sign Chad Johnson to 2-year contract" I freaked out. There is a WR from Cincinnati who is looking for a trade and thought of him... but it was not him. It was a Vikings practice squad guy and this Chad Johnson was signed to the Giants Practice Squad.

I thought it would be funny to freak out a few people I work with and send them the same e-mail... I heard a commotion and my Senior Editor came over to me to ask me where I found this? I asked him if he had read the whole thing and then he laughed outloud.

For some reason I included Work Crush on the e-mail. He got a kick out of it.

"Nice, pretty funny stuff. I'm a huge Jaayyyyyyyyy Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Ssssssssssss fan though. Figured I should let you know."

A Jets fan... no big deal. The Giants and Jets don't have much of a rivalry. No big deal. I ask him who he wants to QB the Jets next season and what he hopes the Jets will get out of the draft.

He responds right back with his thoughts... about 4 paragraphs long... then at the end:

"What are your off days? Curious if the new editors get slammed like the PA's do when it comes to having regular days off."

Hmmm, he is wondering about my days off. I tell him Fridays and Saturdays. He tells me his days off and leaves the e-mail conversation wide open with no question, just his response. So I tell him at least he can watch some college basketball or head to a UConn game, then I went for it and asked where he is living up here since his family is back on Long island.

" I'm right around the corner. You?" - WAS THAT AN INVITATION!? I am kidding of course but it was just fin to get that from him.

I tell him where I live, and that it's on a golf course and can't wait to start playing again. he responds... "That's nice man. We should definitely get together at some point when our days align."

and so it begins...

Prom

Well, the weekend post is back and it’s a good one. Friday night was a drunken good time. It started out with Dinner with my buddy Sully, who is a NYC cop and was up for his girlfriends sister. We had dinner at an old college hangout and drank our faces off. His girlfriend wanted us to go back to her sisters dorm and hang out there. We really didn’t want to, but we did.

Next thing you know we are playing speed quarters and beer pong. It was an amazing night.

Saturday was a lot more fun. It was cool to see Sully and plan out St. Patty’s Day in NYC, but Saturday turned into a good time. I ran my miles and then collapsed on the couch. Watched a movie, made some pasta... relaxed.

Later on I started to get ready for what roomie and I were calling The Prom. Every winter, a DJ in Connecticut throws what is called the Winter Ball at this house. It's a house party but better. Everyone gets dressed up, a limo brings you from a parking garage to the party and once inside everyone is looking good. Either from the booze or being dressed up.

Roomie and his friend Kate started to make rounds but somehow I lost them after running into a guy I worked with at a bar while in college. We were talking for a while, catching up. After that I found some of roomies friends I have met before and talked, people watched.

Overall it was a great night. What made it great is that I got to meet some new people and even got a few phone numbers.

Quick rundown -

EMO Guy - I was getting a beer for myself out of the tub (it was like college but everyone was dressed up) and this cute guy who looks like he should have been in Fall Out Boi says hi. He has a band and is trying to get that off the ground while he works at the GAP. He held a conversation, which was nice. He then introduced me to his friend Rick.

Rick - Very cute, stylish. He was always smiling at me. Made me feel good.

The three of us were talking music and then the topic of sports came up and how I work in the field. That brought up an interesting question from EMO guy. "So you play for our team?"

I asked which team and to just ask gay or straight, shouldn't be that big of a deal. I said gay and they looked at eachother and said they both got out of relationships with girls but are very open to being with guys. As Erik said when I told him this: "Bi is the last stop on the express to Gayville." I laughed.

Rick and Emo both wanted my number to keep in touch. Since then, Emo added me on Facebook.

Rob - This guy walked into the party and I knew I wanted to talk to him. I said hello and he had just got there and needed to find friends. Later on in the night we bumped into eachother again. He's a hot italian who is looking to go to med school. We talked for a little bit, but the alcohol was kicking in for me. So we exchanged numbers and hope to meet up sometime while I am sober.

Overall, it was a good night. I had fun, met some cool guys, got to dance to an awesome band and came home with a smile on my face.

I'm NOT Complaining...

BUT... I have not got a call back from my lunch date that I had on Saturday.

READER: LUNCH DATE?! WHO WAS THE LUNCH DATE JP!

Well, (readers name) I will tell you.

Eric is the name of the guy I met a few Saturday's ago and last weekend we met for lunch at a place near the mall close by. He was sitting at the bar waiting for me. Looking very cute and I realized that there was a reason why I was attracted to him. He has a shaved head (ala Cooper) and is very articulate.

He's smart, funny, and held a conversation the entire date. You know there are times where there is some awkward silence, there was none of that. I did find out that he is a little bit older than I remembered.

I have nothing against older men, I really don't. I just wish he hadn't lied about it at the club. I still think he is a nice guy.

I called him on Sunday after I got dinner with some friends at my favorite college haunt, SideStreet. He was already in bed... at 8pm. We had a quick conversation and that is the last I have heard from him. I called him for lunch, I called on Sunday. I feel like I have been initiating all the contact.

I am complaining that I haven't heard from him. I just think it's bullshit. Send me a text... quick voicemail when I am at the gym. Dating sucks.

So, Connexion is apparently all the rage with a bunch of bloggers. K told me I should join and I have done so. I would link to my page, but might inadvertently out a few bloggers that I am friends with on there.

I haven't decided if my pictures are good enough. We all hate the way we look.

Happy Valentines Day! I usually HATE V-Day. I have never had a real Valentine on this day and it's kind of sad. This year I really haven't thought about it until yesterday. I have decided that my Valentines are all the new friends I have met this past year of my life.

To those who have someone they love today, have fun and get laid. For those who are single, go out and get laid too!

Work Crush Update

Ahh work crush. The guy I will never get. I had an interesting exchange with him a few days ago. I was working and walked over to talk with a co-worker and he and I exchanged glances. I finished my conversation and was heading to the gym. As I walked by him he said hi.

I paused. Might have had a minor panic attack but I said hey what’s up?

He said, "You’re JP right?" I nodded.

"Thanks for the e-mail the other day."

A company e-mail went out about his promotion. I saw it and sent him a congratulations. We had some small talk about the super bowl and how he is a Jets/Mets fan (sigh) and it was a fun little exchange. He was busy doing stuff for our late show and I was on my way to look sexy.
It was an awesome little exchange and we to this day have little conversations back and forth. He is a big fan of horse racing… needless to say, I have been reading up on the ponies for the last week or so.

UPDATE – a buddy of mine who works along side Work Crush is having a party in the next few weeks and is inviting WC. I have been hitting the gym harder!

So Much to Say

So much to fill you guys in on... As you all know I am still riding a high that is the Super Bowl. I went down to the parade on Tuesday with my father, sister and guys we tailgate with. We found an awesome spot on Broadway to watch the parade from and thought that it was fitting that we were near the World Trade Center. The first championship since 9/11 came from the Giants and the celebration was amazing.

What I do need to fill you in on is my Saturday night. This guy Murph who went to my college wanted to go out in New Haven to Gotham Citi, a gay bar. So we hit up the club and the guys we met up with started buying me drinks. As K knows, I talk to anyone when I start drinking and there was this cute guy, rugby player build, standing by himself. I went over to say hello and ask why he was all alone. We got to talking. He just moved back from Spain where he was teaching english and is now a professor at one on the Universities here in CT.

We had awesome conversation and he asked if I wanted to go out and dance. We did. He leaned in and kissed me while dancing and that kiss turned into a little make out session at the after hours downstairs in the basement. We exchanged numbers and he called me on my birthday to wish me a good one!

So CUTE!

We have talked on the phone a few times and we plan on meeting up! PERFECT!

Speaking of perfect.... There are a few commercials out there that were pretty awesome on the super bowl... here are my favorites.

Here is the Patriots version.. that NEVER got aired!

World Champions

This is going to be short a sweet for now... The New York Giants did it! They really did it. The beat a New England team that was 18-0 going into the game and 12 pt. favorites. It has been a whirlwind few days and I am on my way to New York this morning for the victory parade down the canyon of heroes and celebration at Giants Stadium. I'll have my camera and will post some of those pictures soon!

Big thanks to everyone who sent birthday wishes WOW what a great weekend!

Chris and Straight Hockey Guys

While at work earlier tonight I got into a conversation with a fraternity brother named Rader.

He went to another school and we met while attending our TKE conclave in Dallas over the summer of 2003. I was instantly drawn to Rader's charming good looks, athletic body and amazing personality. We hit it off.

We stayed in contact, surprisingly he e-mailed me first. Then came the Facebook friend request and we would exchange stories about weekends, trips and future.

I thought that a while ago we had a conversation about my frustration of not being able to find a guy that was right for me. Apparently we never did.

He told me about a girl he had met and a year later he asked her to marry him. I was very excited for him. Do I find him attractive, yes. But he is still a friend of mine and I know that is all he will ever be.

So, back to our conversation. He was awake doing his thesis for grad school and took a break and IMed me. I was winding down on my work day and we started talking. He needed my new address for the wedding invitation and wanted me to come out for his bachelor party that is a month before the wedding. He asked me if I had a hot date and I said I did not and went off on one of my patent pending "I will be single forever" rants.

He asked me why I would be single forever and that it was "horse shit, you're a good looking guy" he said.

I really thought we had the conversation but apparently we didn't. Thus I came out to a friend who lives out near Detroit who had no idea I was gay. It was a funny feeling but what was nice was his immediate response was, "my fiance has a HOT gay friend for you." JACKPOT!

The whole conversation brought me back to a similar conversation I had with a guy named Matt from Boston. He is a reader, working and dating in Boston. In many ways we are the same and have had numerous similar experiences. We also share the same taste in men.

We like the straight hockey player, frat boy type that is almost always not gay. OR he is gay for one night and chalks it up to too much beer and experimenting.

I was talking about Work and Gym crush with him and he went out on a limb and said that there was about a .001% that they would be gay and should leave it as an admiration from far away and not get all worked up over them.

On my way home from work, Rader called me and said that he loved me more than ever and said he could not wait to have me out in Detroit for the wedding. There is no sexual attraction to Rader, there is the love I have for a true friend that despite the distance has remained someone I know I can trust and cares. It's an awesome feeling!

Here are two more pictures of him. He is a cutie and could not resist sharing him.

Also, I am on my way to my goal of the month. It's February now and I worked out 5x a week jogging, sprinting and doing some light lifting. My waist is getting smaller by the day, my new eating habits have kicked in and become easier to adjust to and my 3 days of total body work outs start on Monday with my trainer.

It's all about starting with an attainable goal, reaching it and building on the success.

LOST and other stuff

Have you watched the season premier of LOST yet? Well, there isn't much new stuff out there on TV right now because of the damn writers strike and I am predicting that LOST has BIG numbers in the ratings.

ABC was smart to put a re-cap show on the air before the season premiere. The first episode was pretty sweet. I won't go into detail about it but it tied up some ends for all of us fans out there and also made us scratch our heads.

I guess we will have to wait until next week... OH WAIT! Thanks to a friend of mine I was able to watch the 2nd episode of the season which won't air until Feb. 7th.....

HOLY SHIT! Anyone want to borrow it from me? It was ridiculous.

I was reading USA Today and I saw this headline and could NOT refuse to post it here.

I snapped this picture of my parents dog Bella a few weekends ago sitting and watching for my father to return from Green Bay.

My sisters new puppy Bucca plays tug of war with Bella!

This is another dog that belongs to my parents. His name is Buddy. Yes, he has one eye. He had a cancerous growth behind the eye and it needed to be removed. He's what my mom calls "our little pirate." He seems a lot happier with a bunch of dogs in the house. He's so damn fun to play catch with, even if he is blind.
