Back to the Grind...

Well, today I came back to reality and work. Vacation was a blast but there were parts that were not so relaxing.

2 of my 5 beach days were rain outs. That was a bummer but still managed to get some great sun and tan myself.

I ended up heading out to Block Island for a few days with my family. For those of you not in the northeast it's an island off the coast of Rhode Island.

It's only about 10 square miles and they only allow a certain number of cars on the island.

My family and our neighbors go out to the island for the same 10 days every summer. It's a really fun time but my sister decided to be a bitch to me when I first got out there. When I got settled I decided to lay on a hammock outside my room that over looks the ocean. I should note that my sisters each got their own private rooms with Queen sized beds. I got a room in the basement with a futon. It is a finished basement with my own bathroom and entrance plus a hammock outside but seriously, a futon.

Anyway, I laid on the hammock and relaxed. About 5 minutes in my bitchy sister calls from the deck asking why I am not hanging out with her. I tell her I want to relax a little bit and she kept giving me shit.

After giving some 'tude back I was left alone when I wanted to be. Which was good because I got a lot of writing done.

I got home on Saturday and hung out with my friend Shane and his boyfriend. His boyfriend, who I have met once before Saturday, thought I was an awesome guy and is introducing me to a friend of his. The guy is really cute. We'll see how it works out.

I have job prospects, a friend hooking me up on a date and I am tan. I feel like a million bucks and can't wait to see what happens.

Play Ball

Ahhhh.... Vacation. Friday was my first trip to Yankee Stadium.

Well, the New Yankee Stadium. Boy did I have fun.

My work schedule really hasn't worked out where I could go to a game. When I worked in NY and got out of work at 9am I would go home, nap, then head to the Stadium and find a half price ticket and watch some baseball. It was awesome.

I went into the city to meet a friend of mine who is trying to get me on to this project. It would be doing some writing so I am pretty excited about it. After lunch I met my buddy Chris and headed up to Yankee Stadium.

What a sweet place it is. What really confused me is the fact that I walked in and had no idea where to go or what to do. I knew I wanted to do Monument park and the Museum so I asked one of the Ushers where to go.

If you get to Yankee Stadium there are people with signs and t-shirts that say "How may I help you?" These guys know the Stadium and where to go. With minimal waiting Chris and I hit both places in less than an hour. We watched some batting practice and then took our seats in the upper deck. Our seats were not that bad and the weather held out... until the 7th inning when it started to rain and turned into a monsoon.

I took that picture above during the rain delay.

The Yankees won (woot!) and I had a good time hanging out with one of my best friends. Now on to softball in the AM.

Catching up with JP II

It's the All Star Break and that means that my job at work should be very easy. My manager asked me to come in a little earlier (still afternoon) to work so I could get out at an hour where bars would still be open and I could meet a friend for a drink or two.

Well, a last minute "crisis" at work and mis-communication left me at work an hour and a half later than I should have been there. It's ok though. The overtime was worth it.

It's been a fun past week. I have been hitting very well in softball and got moved to batting 2nd in our lineup. My bat has been on fire and my fielding has been pretty good too. I am excited for that.

What made my week was this guy Moose texting me. I met him last summer and the night we spent together was pretty awesome. We did not have full on sex but had some fun regardless. Since then we have kept in touch through texting and phone calls.

Well, he text me this past weekend asking me if I was going to be heading to the gay world series this year. I am not. He said, "Well, it would be nice to see you again. You should fly out" The games are in Milwaukee. I'm not gunna fly all the way to Milwaukee for a booty call and to watch softball.

This has led me to a conversation I had with a fellow reader named Jason. Since 2007, I have met some really nice guys. Awesome guys. Running theme has been that I don't live near any of them.

Of the last 5 guys that I met that were decent guys I would have tried to date all of them. All of the guys said they would love to date me; if I lived near them and didn't work nights. Obviously, someone not willing to sacrifice my work schedule to make a relationship work is not worth it.

I know that. It's just frustrating that it's a common theme.

I did, however, meet up with a friend of mine from LA who is back in the NY area. We had a long conversation about life and what I want to do at a diner after getting some drinks on Saturday night. His conclusion is that I should save a bunch of money and move in with him in LA. He has an extra bedroom I could rent out from him and he doesn't mind. We'll see how it goes. The more I think about it the more I need to take a risk.

What's in my future...

I have been debating on writing about this. It happened while I was in Vegas. I had been playing blackjack and was down some money and buzzed off of the Jack Daniels I was drinking. I was walking up to my hotel room when I passed this little alcove.

It was a psychic. I have always wanted to get my fortune read. The only time I have ever done it was on the streets of New York while my then girlfriend was with me. The psychic said she saw me and my girlfriend getting married but I needed to go to her private office to have my energy cleansed from the devil. Needless to say I have not seen one since that time.

I was intrigued. Also tipsey. I decided to go in and say hi.

I paid my fee and off we went.

First she talked about work. She said that I am very focused on work and that she sees me on the phone at work but that I do not work in sales. Correct.

I nodded my head yes. She asked me not to tell her anything about myself except my birthday and to only give her YES or NO questions.

What was interesting is what she said next. She said she sees me signing papers in December and that I will be changing focus in December. I would be staying within the same company but in a different area.

If I were to get this fellowship, where the final interviews are in December, I would be staying with the same Company but living in LA. Interesting. She said that I am a creative guy and that what I am doing right now is not what I want to do. Ok, genaric.

She did say that she see's a life change in December/January which is when I would be moving if I got this fellowship.

She moved on to my love life. She said that I was single and have been for a while. She interrupted the love section and said, "I feel that you hate your midsection and have been doing a lot of running lately. I see you wearing an iPod. It somehow tracks your running." My mouth dropped. She told me to keep the running up and it will help me reach my goal. It's great meditation for me, which she mentioned.

She then talked about my love life. Yes I am single. She started looking strangely at the tarrot cards. She said, "I see you meeting someone with dark hair in August." She paused, then looked at me.

"You're gay. right?"

Now, I don't exactly come off feminine. That she got that right blew me away. She said that because she was picking up a very masculine energy with dark hair.

Apparently I will meet a guy in August, who I do not know right now, who I will date for 2 years. We will break up and I will then date someone I already know who has blondish hair for 10 years.

After this was over I wrote a bunch of it down in my written journal. I had been debating on writing it here but decided that I wanted to just in case any of this comes true. Starting August 1 I want to go see another psychic and see what they have to say.

That dancer from Jimmy Fallon...

Jimmy Fallon was in repeats tonight and I remembered the episode. When I first saw the episode he was trying to get guys to do a dance to a song he created. He asked two members of the audience to come down and try and create a catchy dance to the beat.

The first one was just BAD. The second was awesome. Turns out he was a ringer and professional dancer.

The ringer was really hot. With only a few minutes at work to kill I decided to try and find him using Google. SUCCESS!
He's 22 years old and from Los Angeles. He's also about 5'8". He's fun to look at though.

Application sent...

Over the last year I have been trying to figure out what the hell I really want to do with my life. I have talked about numerous times on here that i want to write for TV.

Well, good news... I sent my Writing Fellowship application out last week.

I had to write an episode of a television show currently in production. I chose How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). It's one of the funniest shows out there. I wrote about 5 drafts of the script before my friend Lisa took a look at it and gave me some notes and edits to make. I also had to write a biography which was about a paragraph and a Statement of Interest.

After I finished I had posted on Facebook that I had finished my script. A friend of mine called me and asked what was up with it. We got to talking and it turns out she has a friend that used to work on HIMYM. She put me in touch with him and after chatting with him for a little bit he asked to read my script. I asked him to give me as much feedback as possible. He sent me an e-mail yesterday morning and said this..

"I think you really nailed the tone of the show. Pacing was strong, dialogue was right where it needed to be (Robin and Barney in particular), and the plot -- while wacky -- was perfectly in line with the kind of things that HIMYM have done to great success in the past. Likewise a big fan of some of the gags you worked in. All in all it was a an easy and entertaining read -- it "felt" like a HIMYM.
It was well-researched, funny, and definitely one of the strongest specs I’ve seen from someone not currently drawing a paycheck as a pro."

Not only did that make my day, it has given me a really big confidence boost. Now I have to figure out what the hell I am going to do to make this happen.
