Fuck You, Match.com

This past weekend one of my little sisters got married. It was a weekend of pure fun. My brother in law seriously rocks. There is a picture that the professional photographer took of my sister looking into the eyes of her now husband with this look on her face. She's just so happy.

I love and hate weddings. Most weddings you can see true love in front of you at that very moment the bride and groom first see each other.

Then there is the fear of being alone and single the rest of your life if you are single. Apparently, all of this is perfectly normal.

It's not a secret that I have been using online sites to meet someone. My other sister met her current boyfriend on Match.  My good friend Ryan met his current flame on Grindr. (seriously)

What get's me upset is that after trying Match.com for 3 months I barely had ANYONE message me on the site. I'm not a bad looking guy. Justin over in Chicago can vouch for that. This is what pisses me off...

Weeks of not getting responces from people and this is what I get in my mailbox about 2-3 times a day.

Seriously. Match.com can fuck a duck.

  1. How actively are you sending messages to guys you like the look of? Its not just about sitting around waiting for love to fall in your lap

  2. I was feeling the same way while reading your post. I do know a former roommate that met his fiance on match.com. I have also sent many messages, but yet not a response either.

  3. I've not had any luck with internet sites but you're on the right track trying to put yourself out there.

Have you tried Okcupid? I've heard some people had good luck there.

I know you're disappointed, JP, that I posted a rare short response rather than usual lengthy one. You'll be okay. ;-)

  4. Don't worry JP, I have the same luck on those dating sites. From my own experiences with these sites, I seriously wonder how people find someone on there. My theory is it's pure dumb luck.

I've long since given up on those places

  5. @Mind: I send guys messages. It's not like I am just sitting back and waiting for guys to message me.

@Everyone else: The dating website world just sucks. It's like interviewing for a job. You have to try and sell yourself.

  6. It is hard. How many sites are you on? I use a few different sites in conjunction. I am sure you are a great looking guy and you just have not met the right guys yet. Grindr is not as bad as it seems as long as you make your intentions clear. Good luck!

  7. Have you tried the sites specializing in bear cubs?
