Winning a College Bet

Nothing is better than 7 years later collecting on a bet made in college.

Way back in the year 2002, my friend Marissa had a crush on a friends roommate, George.

George was the roommate of my big brother in my fraternity. When I first met him I instantly knew that he was gay.

I asked my big brother, Tom, about George. He denied knowing anything. George went on having many girlfriends through out college and I never really got to know him that well during college besides running into him at parties and bars. He was just one of those acquaintances that you have in college.

Last night I had dinner with Tom and his fiance here in New York. We were talking about his upcoming wedding and Bachelor party and George came up. Tom was at a wedding and ran into George. They were catching up the night before the wedding and looked horrible.

The conversation went something like this:

G: "So I brought Tim, my roommate to the wedding"

T: "Oh, that's cool"

G: "We've been dating for the last year."

Tom didn't know how to respond. My first reaction was "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU DATING YOUR ROOMMATE!?!?!"

Apparently, George has been attracted to men for a while and was trying to make it work with women. His roommate figured it out and one night they were talking and ended up having sex. They have been dating ever since.

That night I called my friend Marissa to collect on our college bet. She apparently ran into him about a year ago up in Boston and he was talking about his break up. Show owes me dinner and I can't wait to see him and catch up at this bachelor party next month.

  3. @WTWTG There are certain guys from HS that I wish would just come out. Then there are the guys who HAVE come out and I am just not into it at all.

@Mind of Mine - Welcome back. I had a brief hiatus because of job intense job interviews and locked up a lot of stuff I've written even though they didn't know this e-mail address. Was just being cautious.
