Hotlanta?

As most of you know I have been looking for a new job in NYC.

As much as I love working where I am right now... I need to be back in NYC.

I have applied for a bunch of jobs online and got a call from another network about doing a phone interview, which took place on Monday.

They really like my skill set and wanted to talk to me about a job opportunity.

The result of this interview was great. I have another with a panel via Skype coming up next week. The only drawback that I see about the job is that it is based in Atlanta.

My question to my readers... are any of you in the ATL?

  1. If you get the job, I think you would LOVE Atlanta. There's a huge gay community and nothing beats a southern gentleman.

  2. this hit home... just moved to atlanta two weeks ago from dc for work (from midwest, college new york, grad school out west) and so far so good. didn't know anyone when moved but have now met a great group of guys through mutual dc/nyc friends. cheap living, sports galore, and quality folks. definitely looking for a ltr so we'll see. great place to hang for a bit to kick up the career. best of luck.

  4. I'm not based in Atlanta, but being from Memphis it's a place I've frequented a lot. For most below the Mason-Dixon Line, Atlanta is seen as the NYC of the South.

You have the sports franchises, the entertainment, the gays of all shapes/sizes/backgrounds, and it's pretty diverse. Cost of living is definitely cheaper than NYC and you will actually be able to have your own space that isn't a cramped 300 sq. ft.

However, ATL has its setbacks. Since the city is in the south, the need for a car is more crucial than the Big Apple. The MARTA(public transportation) runs, but it's not as widely used as NYC subways and the accessibility of stops aren't as great. Plus, the later it gets the harder it is to get around without a car.

Although Atlanta is an extremely progressive, urban area there is still visible homophobia and racial divides(but where in America is this not the case to a certain extent?).

So yeah that's my review of HotLanta! lol--I haven't heard that in years. Anywho--if you have anymore questions or curiosities, post them here and I'll try to help as much as possible.

Also--do you have an email account where I can contact you directly? I am young guy interested in making it in the media industry and I wanted to run a few things by you. It would be awesome to exchange some emails back and forth as I prepare plans for the new year.

I hope this write-up helps.I look forward to speaking with you soon.

    Happy Holidays!
