I came across this article on TV Decoder about how Network News divisions are trimming their staffs consistently over the last few years.
The report, released Monday, found that the total staff employed by the network news divisions (NBC, ABC and CBS) fell 7 percent in 2007 compared to the year before. PEJ included correspondents, anchors, executives, producers, editors, and researchers in the tally, which was compiled with the help of the networks. More significantly, “the number of producers was down 24 percent compared to the number listed the previous year,” the report stated.
I am pretty happy that I got out of Network News and am now working in sports television.
