Not moving after all...

What a crazy few days it has been. Just to let everyone know, I won't be moving to LA.

What it came down to was what they would be paying, I would not be able to afford to live, pay for a car and insurance and still be able to feed myself… it sucks. I got the written offer a few days ago and the pay was pretty low for me to justify getting out there. It’s a great opportunity, but I know that I wouldn’t be able to live and work at the best of my ability.

Also, there is another job opportunity that will be bringing me back to Connecticut. Once I get the written offer… I’ll fill you all in on it.

Seriously, these past few days have been stressful and I talked to a LOT of people about what I should do and got advice from a bunch of people… BIG thanks to Cooper, Billy and Justin out in Chicago.

Am I disappointed that this didn’t turn out to be the best time for a job offer in California… Yeah. I know that starting out in entertainment does not pay well. I can’t wait for this other offer to get here… Plus there is something else in the works as well… I am optimistic right now!

  1. Sounds like it has been a roller coaster of a ride the last few weeks.

Sometimes saying no to an opportunity is a harder choice than saying yes. But it sounds like you've given things a tremendous amount of consideration, and you made the right decision for you.

Your friends were hoping all the best for you, excited about your opportunities, and that won't change because of your decision. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're glad you're staying for a little while longer.

Good luck with the Connecticut opportunity.

  2. For some reason, employers think they can offer a position and undervalue it financially (which happened to me last week).

Then, they wonder why people in lower-level jobs aren't happy. Ummm, it's because you're not paying your employees.

  3. What makes it worse is making an offer via phone and then 4 days later getting the written offer and seeing a VERY low yearly offer. When I asked about money, she said it would all be in the written offer.

    SIGH

This is my first real change in jobs. I am leaving my first job out of college to go to another, granted it's within the same Company...

  4. Regardless of what happens, we all know you are going to do great things. So get to it ;)

Selfishly, I'm glad you are staying on this coast. It's LA's loss :)

  6. I guess the cookie crumbles that way sometimes, but I'm happy to see you being a bit optimistic about this other opportunity! It all sounds great. :-)
