Coming Out...

There have been a LOT of people coming out lately like Micifus has done with his parents and I really don’t know if I could do it. I had a brief run in with my father finding gay porn on our home computer when I was home during a break my freshman year of college and that was about it. Honestly, it takes a lot to do with your parents and I know micifus has been preparing himself for it on his blog and getting a LOT of comments and well wishes from fellow readers.

I just don’t know if I am at that stage yet. Micifus, congratulations and best of luck. If you guys haven’t read his blog check it out. He is a great writer and has a lot to share on his blog.

  1. You know for you and I, I think it's a different story. Since we are self sufficient (or I'd like to think we are) as far as financial reasons and waht have you that we don't necessarily need to disclose how we life our life post college (at least that's how my friend instilled it into my head). I mean what point is there to tell the parental units especially if we're living on our own and taking care of business as usual? I dunno...my thought's are kind of unconnected (I blame my lack of sleep ;) ). Anyways my point is, I don't think it's necessarily a topic of concern for those of us in the working world. But maybe I'm just jaded too...

  2. Take your time and do it when you're ready. It is however the best thing you can do for yourself and wicked liberating!

  3. yeah that blog is very awesome, I've read it since he sort of came out to himself but I don't comment on that blog much because I feel like my blog is a closet blog and since I'm not really aiming for the "victory" of coming out like a lot of blogs, or at least I'm still dealing with it. I guess I like reading and thinking about what if I HAD done the whole coming out thing way back in college.....good post. later.

  4. Your not alone about not knowing if your at that stage yet. Somedays I feel like I'll never get to that point. Heh, maybe that'll be my New Years resolution: come out to my folks.

  5. JP-
Everyone has got to do what is right for them. Just remember that whatever you do there are tons of people out here that respect you and support you.
