For the first time in a long time there is some movement in my life! Not as in working out or running but career wise.
Since moving back to the suburbs, I have had mixed emotions. I've been out of NY for 2 years. It's crazy to me that 2 years ago I was debating a move to California (where I would have been laid off) and a job here in CT.
Truth be told, I have hated living in CT. Sure I have had some good times with friends... but for the most part I miss the vibe of New York City.
A few weeks ago, I helped out a buddy of mine who works at a cable network in NYC. We have known each other since we were seven years old. He needed something from us so I hooked him up and did such a good job that he asked me to send him my resume.
Well, 2 weeks ago his boss sent me an e-mail about coming in and talking about possible job opportunities.
That interview was this past Friday. I am pretty confident in how the interview went because it was two hours and the Executive Producer told me that I "...would be a perfect fit."
What helped was that my buddy G is highly respected by her and at the Network.
I had lunch with my buddy G after the interview and he was impressed that it was about 2 hours long. "She never meets with anyone for more than 20 minutes when it comes to feeling someone out for a position."
I shot her a thank you card and a thank you e-mail. Apparently something is in the works and I should be hearing from Human Resources soon.
I am pretty excited about it only because this means that I will be back in NYC and REALLY involved in the creative process for this show. It's long hours and lot's of different jobs to be doing at once but I think that I am up for the challenge.
We'll see what happens.
